A. Hall, President of Erie and Niagara during
the company's centennial celebration was quoted
as saying, "They were potent seeds those
59 farmers planted in 1875." Those 59 policyholders
have grown in excess of 71,000 policyholders to
date. As the pictorial illustrates, Erie and Niagara's
future looks very sunny. The continued financial
strength of the company, dedicated people, and
a corporate commitment to run a financially strong
insurance company all bode well for the future
of Erie and Niagara.
This sunny outlook
will be challenged by clouds on the horizon.
Co-operatives in the state numbered in excess
of 100 approximately 30 years ago. At year end
2006 there were approximately 32 co-operatives,
with Erie and Niagara being one of the largest.
Our more complex society has lead to increased
regulation and a more litigious society.
Erie and Niagara
throughout its history has been able to respond
to past challenges and has prospered. It is
with that heritage we expect to meet these challenges
and plan for the company to continue to thrive
in the future.
